Great question! It's so important to make sure you're taking care of yourself between sessions - it will help your therapy be more effective, but is also just good self-care practice that everyone should be doing.
There are a lot of things you can do to take care of your mental health. To start, it's important to take care of your body's basic needs. This can include drinking water, eating vegetables, reaching out to others for human connection, or getting a good night's sleep. Outside of your basic needs, it's important to listen to how you are feeling, and do activities that feel like they increase your mood, both in the moment and the next day. A great example is having a hobby, taking a morning walk, or doing deep breathing exercises.
If you can, you should always take care of your body's basic needs, and have at least one of these mood boosting activities every day. If you keep this up, you'll be surprised how much better you feel!
